Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival in Killarney Exceeds all Expectations

Whilst many competitor offline events apparently have been struggling to meet guarantees and reach player capacity, Ladbrokes Poker returned to Killarney, Ireland for the third consecutive year, promised great things, and over delivered it seems.

With a €250,000 guaranteed prize-pool, a mammoth 633 runners upped-the-anti buying in for €500 and creating a very big €316,000 pot even the highest of rollers could not resist.

Amy Trodd, spokesperson of Ladbrokes Poker, said: "With a €500 buy-in and €316,000 in the pot I am gutted I can’t play!"

As ever Ladbrokes competitors in Killarney represent a diverse cross section of nationalities from across the globe with 633 poker professional and amateur players alike battling it out for the sought after €75,000 first prize and the esteemed title of '2010 Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival Winner'.

As day two kicks off with 281 runners left in, there is a real buzz as last year's champion, Thomas Rolfe and pre tournament favourite Karl Mahrenholz were both sent to the rails on day one, leaving the path clear for perhaps a new poker face to get their hands on the trophy.

It is confirmed that Ladbrokes ambassadors Shane Lynch of Boyzone and Ronnie Whelan - Irish footballer - will be in attendance at the Killarney poker event this year.
