Premier League Betting - Chelsea's John Terry Losing England Captaincy?
Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has cut the odds on John Terry losing the England captaincy to just Evens. Having offered odds of 11/8 on Friday when
Terry's super-injunction was lifted, fans have firmly given their verdict on the Chelsea defender and forced the bookmaker to further cut the odds.
Punters could have got odds of 4/1 that Terry would not be England's World Cup skipper before the story broke last week. Punters certainly
are not convinced this will be the last affair involving Terry to hit the headlines either. With plenty of previous form they are expecting the Terry scandal to escalate
into a Tiger Woods style avalanche with former lovers emerging left, right and centre.
A spokesperson of the bookmaker said: "The pressure
is mounting on Terry who it would appear has now lost public support and the betting certainly suggests punters don’t think he will be leading
out the Three Lions for too much longer."
The betting that six or more stories emerge on John Terry's affairs has been backed in over the
weekend from 7/4 to just 5/4. The bookie now offers just 5/6 that the two shamed sports stars bounce back with Tiger playing at the US Masters and
Terry captaining England for their first World Cup game.
Should Terry step down or be sacked by Capello Paddy Power make Steven Gerrard the hot favourite
at odds of 4/7 to be the next national skipper followed by Wayne Rooney at 4/1 and Frank Lampard at 7s.
