Irish Bookmaker Pays Out Almost £50,000 on White Christmas in the UK

Christmas came early for Paddy Power's punters today when the bookmaker declared it was paying out on a white Christmas across the United Kingdom.

As the first snow of winter fell on London today the bookie is providing an early Christmas present to the tune of almost £50,000 having taken over 4000 bets on there being a white December 25th in various destinations across the UK and the world.

A spokesperson of the bookmaker said: "With just nine days to go until Christmas the first snowfall has put everyone in a real festive cheer. The chances of a white Christmas in London were backed in by weather-watchers from an opening 5/1 to odds of just 9/4 as temperatures plummeted and forecasters warned of an imminent cold snap. One lucky punter in particular will be happy having placed a £250 wager at odds of 4/1 a month ago.
