Premier League Betting - Liverpool and Arsenal on Their Way Down

Manchester United have replaced Arsenal as the new second betting favourites for the Premier League with Ladbrokes - as Chelsea shorten to 4/6 odds-on favourites for the title.

United strolled to victory over Everton and are into 5/2 for the title - from 3/1 - but Arsenal's defeat at Sunderland has seen them eased to 4/1.

The major beneficiaries are Chelsea who thumped Wolves 4-0. And at just 4/6 for the title, the bookmakers are worried about the faltering challenge from so-called rivals.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: "Chelsea's stranglehold on the Premier League betting has tightened. Only United have served it up to them this weekend with Liverpool, City and Arsenal all dropping points. We're desperate for the League to remain competitive over Christmas but it doesn't look good."

Liverpool are out at betting odds of 40/1 after failing to beat Manchester City (33/1) in the big lunchtime kick-off.

"A big match draw at Anfield would normally be great news but punters have lost confidence in both City and Liverpool. They've also latched on to City's streak of draws and it was by no means a good lunchtime result", added Williams.
