With director Martin Scorsese casting for the role in his forthcoming Sinatra movie Di Caprio is the betting favourite at 13/8 to step into the shoes of Ol' Blue Eyes.

Di Caprio's passing looks to the Sinatra mould and relationship with Scorsese over several previous films seems to give him the edge although his reported inability to sing stops Paddy Power from going any shorter on the Titanic star.

Darren Haines, spokesman for the bookie, said: "Hollywood has had some colour-blind casting in the past but a black Sinatra could be pushing the suspension of disbelief a little to far even for them."

Bizarrely, despite some obvious difference between the two, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has also been widely touted for the Sinatra role perhaps for his singing abilities and is 8/1 with the bookmaker.
