Cricket Betting - England's Bad Performance Makes Punters Wonder

Punters appear to be getting bored of the England cricket roadshow with a bookmaker reporting a noticeable downturn in England bets ahead of Thursday's Fourth Test in Barbados.

England, who are 7/5 favourites to win the match, are yet to experience the traditional wave of patriotic punts ahead of the game with various factors such as the ECB's Stanford fiasco and a steady decline in the team's success leaving fans waiting to be bowled over.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: "England’s bad plight has stopped play. Although we fully anticipate punters turning their focus to the match on the day itself this has been the quietest build up to a Test in the series so far. It seems that all the talk of past fiascos and future problems is turning punters’ attentions away from what England are up to right now."

"It may not be helped by the fact that England’s declining performances are hardly much cause for excitement amongst fans either", Haines went on.

West Indies, who are 12/5 to win the match with the draw 8/5, are now favourites to win the series England had expected to coast. With two Tests left to play the Windies are now 8/11 for the series with England 7/2 and the draw 9/4.

Bopara to be better than Lara?

Meanwhile Flintoff and Prior's absence looks certain to hand Ravi Bopara a Test recall. But will Bopara prove to be better than Lara? The Essex batsman is 2/1 to score a century during the Barbados match, 7/1 to top score in England's first innings and 20/1 to be man of the match.

However most of world cricket's attention will be on the more intriguing re-match between South Africa and Australia.

Now on home soil the South Africans are 4/6 to underline their recent dominance of the declining Aussies with a series win. Ricky Ponting's team are 7/2 to reverse what was their first series loss at home in 16 years.
