The Capital of Poker 2008
Poker has got a new capital. The European Poker Capital of 2008 is Dublin, the biggest city in Ireland. Last year's poker capital, London, went in
second. London is followed by Vienna, Amsterdam and finally Barcelona on fifth place.
Editors of Bluff Europe Magazine have chosen Dublin this
year because of its friendly, enthusiastic poker environment and the large number of poker clubs and tournaments that are at the disposal of Irish
citizens and visitors of Dublin alike.
"Last year, in recognition of the inaugural WSOPE and the general health of its burgeoning poker
scene, we chose London as the place to be. This induced a lot of snickering from across the Irish Sea, where they're rightfully very protective of
their fantastic poker scene," says Philip Conneller, Editor of Bluff Europe. "But this year there was really only one candidate."
Poker is
becoming increasingly popular in Ireland, and especially Dublin, resulting in more and more poker venues, leagues and tournaments featuring buy-ins
for everyone. From the high roller bringing thousands to the table to the casual poker player who only wants to invest a few Euros.
Currently,
Ireland's biggest online gambling company offers a special cash VIP online poker promotion. More information is available on Paddy Power's
website.
Bluff Europe is Europe's most widely read and spread poker magazine and copies may be picked up in poker card rooms or at
newsstands all over the continent.
